Technical Sourcing Manager

Jabil•Austin, TX

About The Position

The Technical Sourcing Manager manages supplier selection and part validation for design, new product introduction (NPI), and risk/cost-reduction needs. The role uses Jabil’s supply chain and sourcing organizations, tools, templates, and processes to identify, validate, and deploy components into the supply base. It requires adapting quickly to changing project requirements and supporting multiple projects or customers; indirect reports may be involved. The manager is accountable for BOM pricing through design and mass-production milestones, resolving cost differences and supply-chain impacts caused by BOM, design, or scope changes, coordinating supplier Design for Manufacturability (DFM) recommendations, and guiding product or process optimization based on supplier feedback. The role manages supplier selection with commodity management, supplier negotiations and risk mitigation, buyer guidance, clean-to-build part status, and Early Supplier Involvement. For assigned NPI projects, the manager develops supply-chain strategies for Jabil-owned components and guides qualification of components and suppliers, including DFM, FOT, PPAP, and APQP. The role also works with NPI buyers and suppliers to optimize and minimize on-hand inventory. For assigned risk/cost-reduction work, the manager leads supply-chain initiatives involving cost optimization, quality improvement, and supply assurance; addresses high-risk quality issues and line-down constraints; and develops value propositions with guidance from senior team members, SCDMs, SSMs, and the Business Unit. The position ensures delivery of Supply Chain and Sourcing outputs using Jabil’s current templates, software, and processes; supports cost estimating for custom parts; confirms components are qualified and ready for procurement before handoff to production; and leads process improvements. The role requires adherence to safety, health, and company security procedures.
