About The Position

The Senior Technical Sourcing Engineer drives supplier selection and part validation for design, new product introduction (NPI), and risk/cost reduction needs. The position uses situational analysis and Jabil’s Supply Chain and Sourcing organizations, tools, templates, and processes to identify, validate, and deploy components into the supply base. The role requires adapting quickly to changing project requirements and acting with urgency. The engineer owns BOM pricing through design and mass-production milestones, resolves cost differences and supply-chain impacts from BOM, design, or scope changes, and provides detailed explanations for unresolved issues. The role solicits and interprets supplier Design for Manufacturability recommendations, guides supplier selection with commodity management, leads supplier negotiations and risk mitigation, and supports buyers in maintaining clean-to-build part status. For assigned NPI projects, the engineer develops supply-chain strategies for Jabil-owned components, guides component and supplier qualification (including DFM, FOT, PPAP, and APQP), and works with buyers and selected suppliers to optimize on-hand inventory. For assigned risk/cost reduction projects, the role leads initiatives involving cost optimization, quality improvement, and supply assurance; supports purchasing on urgent quality, line-down, and supplier-negotiation issues; and helps build value propositions with senior team members and business stakeholders. The position drives Supply Chain and Sourcing deliverables using Jabil’s current templates, software, and processes; contributes to cost estimating for custom parts; confirms selected components are qualified and ready for procurement before handoff to production; and identifies and deploys Jabil process improvements. The employee must follow applicable safety, health, and security policies.
