About The Position

Ignition Marine is seeking a Technical Service Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day execution of marine service work performed by technicians. This role involves supervising technicians, coordinating workflow, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The Technical Manager will provide hands-on troubleshooting, quality control, and mentorship for complex yachting projects, ensuring client satisfaction. Ignition Marine is an ISO 9001-accredited marine solutions provider specializing in yacht sales, brokerage, and a full-service technical department handling mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs, as well as complete vessel refits.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in yachting marine service operations, technical coordination, or field service environments within the marine industry.
  • An additional 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Direct experience servicing pleasure crafts is mandatory.
  • Solid knowledge of end-to-end marine service operations.
  • Ability to read and translate technical documentation into clear operational tasks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of pleasure craft vessel operations.
  • Experience working within structured quality systems (like ISO 9001).
  • Strong working knowledge of safety procedures, hazard identification, and safe work practices.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to manage and track operational data using scheduling tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proven ability to supervise a team of 10+ staff.
  • Strong accountability and a proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain a respectful, no-blame environment.
  • Personally resilient, with the capacity to demonstrate a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Technical certifications in marine, mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review Repair Orders (ROs) and perform initial inspections using mobile forms.
  • Conduct daily morning briefings to clarify work scope, priorities, and safety hazards.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and problem-solving support for technicians, assisting with troubleshooting engines, electronics, and marine systems.
  • Supervise daily execution, perform ongoing quality control checks, and conduct post-service inspections.
  • Identify and address deficiencies or deviations from technical standards.
  • Maintain awareness of operational timelines, including delivery dates, lifts, and sea trials.
  • Coordinate the sequencing of work to support on-time delivery.
  • Notify the Project Manager upon job completion.
  • Assess parts availability before starting major projects and coordinate with the Parts Manager to resolve shortages.
  • Ensure the proper handling of tools and client property.
  • Monitor Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) compliance, identifying hazards, reporting risks, and implementing safety procedures.
  • Foster teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Promote a positive, "no-blame" work environment.
