About The Position

Tutor Intelligence is hiring a Technical Program Manager to build the tools, data systems, and operational processes needed to run a growing fleet of robots deployed at customer sites across North America. Reporting to the Head of Robot Operations and Reliability, the role identifies operational problems, determines what solutions are needed, builds initial versions, puts them into use, and improves them until they can run independently. The role also leads investigations into complex robot failures by reviewing logs, field reports, parts history, and technician observations; developing and testing theories; and following through until the root cause is identified and the fix is shown to hold. Work will change as the fleet grows and involves close collaboration with engineering, customer success, and field technicians. Potential projects include a real-time technician training system, issue tracking that connects robot telemetry with field observations, predictive failure tools, technician capacity planning, and improving the collection and use of reliability data. The role uses code and AI agents to automate data gathering, checks, and write-ups, and emphasizes shipping early versions, learning from users, and documenting successful processes. The position is based in the Watertown, Massachusetts office, with travel to customer sites and regional teams as needed, roughly 10–25%.

Requirements

  • 2–7 years of experience as a technical program manager, industrial engineer, engineer, or in operations or a similar technical role.
  • A track record of building: at least one system, tool, or program designed from scratch and put into real use, with a result that can be stated in numbers.
  • Comfort building software with AI coding tools and agents, or readiness to learn them quickly; experience shipping working solutions matters more than a particular programming language.
  • Clear thinking and the ability to turn data into a clear picture others can act on.
  • Clear writing for engineers, customers, and leadership.
  • A degree in engineering or a technical field, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in robotics, automation, manufacturing, logistics, or fulfillment.
  • Has started something at a past job that did not exist before and that is still running.
  • Builds outside of work, such as side projects or a home lab.

Responsibilities

  • Identify operational problems and build tools, data systems, and processes to address them.
  • Develop first versions of solutions, put them in front of real users, and improve them until they can run independently.
  • Lead investigations into complex robot failures by examining logs, field reports, parts history, and technician input; testing theories; and verifying fixes.
  • Build systems using code and AI agents to automate data gathering, checks, and draft write-ups.
  • Work closely with engineering, customer success, and field technicians to develop solutions informed by people closest to the robots.
  • Document processes and solutions so others can run them without assistance.
  • Develop or contribute to technician training, issue tracking, predictive reliability tooling, technician capacity planning, and reliability data systems.
  • Travel to customer sites and regional teams as needed.

Benefits

  • Fully employer-covered health insurance.
  • Managed 401(k).
  • Unlimited PTO and all federal holidays off for full-time salaried employees.
  • For hourly employees, 16+ days of accrued paid time off and 1.5x pay on federal holidays.
  • Regular in-office meals and team social events throughout the year.
