About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Northern Region Design is looking for a Technical Engineer 1/ Architect 1 to help us Keep Alaska Moving! This position will manage, plan, evaluate, and guide all traffic safety related systems and performance within Northern Region. The role also involves managing the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and the Safety Management System (SMS) for Northern Region, providing technical support in traffic engineering and traffic safety matters to the region, statewide, and local governments, and providing professional testimony on trials and other legal matters related to traffic and crashes.

Requirements

  • Registration as a professional engineer (PE) or professional architect.
  • Two years of professional engineering or architectural experience as an Engineer 1, Architectural Assistant 3 or higher with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
  • Must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b) (if not registered in Alaska).
  • Must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment (if not registered in Alaska).
  • A driver's license is required for this position.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making, and a strong ethical and professional conduct history.
