About The Position

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for full-time Accounting Technician 1 located in Wasilla, Alaska. As an Accounting Technician 1, you will support the travel and /or accounting section of the division. These tasks include, but are not limited to, coordinating requests for goods and services or processing payroll which involves detailed auditing, reconciling, and detailed record keeping of invoices and payments; coordinating travel booking which involves auditing, reconciling, and detailed record keeping of divisional travel events for employees and clients; participating in the continuous improvement process related to travel and accounts payable processing for the State of Alaska. Requirements

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Valid ID
Successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (for example, double entry accounting, accrual accounting), including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets, financial statements, ledgers, and journals.
Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

Nice To Haves

Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

Responsibilities

Coordinating requests for goods and services or processing payroll which involves detailed auditing, reconciling, and detailed record keeping of invoices and payments
Coordinating travel booking which involves auditing, reconciling, and detailed record keeping of divisional travel events for employees and clients
Participating in the continuous improvement process related to travel and accounts payable processing for the State of Alaska
Coordinating and fiscally reconciling Divisional travel for staff and families
Processing all other support activities including but not limited to payroll, inventory management and supplies
