Technical Content Writer

Efficient Computer•Austin, TX
•$120,000 - $180,000

About The Position

Efficient Computer is seeking a Technical Content Writer with an engineering background to help engineers, product managers, and technology leaders understand the potential of its processor architecture. The writer will turn customer applications, benchmarks, reference designs, and engineering findings into clear, useful content, while also working hands-on with evaluation hardware, the effcc Compiler, applications, and measurement tools. Content should explain results accurately and in enough detail for readers to reproduce them. The role spans technical and product content, including blog posts, application notes, white papers, benchmark reports, newsletters, website and solution pages, product walkthroughs, demo videos, presentations, conference materials, sales tools, webinars, and workshops. The writer will collaborate with product, applications, and engineering teams, verify technical accuracy, build small demos and reference projects, analyze energy and performance data, and track content effectiveness. Efficient emphasizes publishing reliable, reproducible measured results and explaining the conditions behind them. The company describes its Fabric architecture as delivering a 10–100x improvement in energy efficiency for general-purpose computation, including AI. Its first processor, Electron E1, is shipping in volume, and the company recently announced more than $97 million in Series B financing. The role offers a stated base salary range of $120,000–$180,000, a 10% annual bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits; final compensation depends on experience, level, and location.

Requirements

  • A degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least three years of experience in semiconductors, embedded systems, or processor and compiler tools, in engineering, marketing, or a combination of both.
  • Examples of writing for a technical audience, such as blog posts, application notes, white papers, documentation, or conference papers.
  • Fluency in C or C++, including the ability to work through an unfamiliar codebase, build it, and make changes independently.
  • Experience with development hardware, including bringing up an evaluation board, connecting a sensor, reading a serial console, and debugging a toolchain or unexpected measurement.
  • Working knowledge of Python or a similar language for data analysis, plotting results, and building small internal tools.
  • Ability to discuss an engineer’s work, understand its details, and explain its customer relevance.
  • Clear writing and willingness to edit one’s own work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low-power or battery-powered system design, energy measurement, or power profiling tools.
  • Knowledge of compilers, instruction set architectures, or dataflow and spatial architectures.
  • Work involving drones and autonomy, industrial monitoring, space and defense, or wearable devices.
  • Experience with embedded machine learning, digital signal processing, or real-time control.
  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills for interactive demos and technical web content.
  • Ability to create figures, diagrams, and data visualizations that explain technical results.
  • Experience speaking at conferences, leading workshops, or building an audience for one’s work.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product, applications, and engineering teams to identify audiences, questions, and content needs.
  • Turn customer applications, benchmarks, and reference designs into clear examples of what products can do with the Electron E1.
  • Write technical blog posts, application notes, white papers, and benchmark reports about the Fabric architecture, compiler behavior, workloads, and application design.
  • Write and produce developer and industry newsletters.
  • Tailor content to engineers evaluating the toolchain, product managers considering features, and executives making investment decisions.
  • Write website and solution pages for autonomy, critical infrastructure observability, space and defense, and wearables.
  • Script product walkthroughs, demo videos, and short technical explainers, including on-screen direction and explanations of hardware behavior.
  • Develop technical stories and content for sales presentations, conference talks, and partner briefings, including editable, readable slides.
  • Bring up evaluation hardware, port and build applications with the effcc Compiler, and set up instrumentation for measurement.
  • Measure energy use and performance independently and with the applications team, analyze data, and create figures explaining results.
  • Review content with engineers to verify accuracy before publication.
  • Build small demos, sample applications, and reference projects developers can clone and run.
  • Ensure published measurements can be traced to the workload and hardware used.
  • Create solution briefs, competitive one-pagers, demo scripts, and trade show content for sales and field teams.
  • Run technical webinars and support conference talks and workshops.
  • Follow other energy-efficient computing approaches to explain the company's position and comparisons.
  • Track traffic, search rankings, engagement, and qualified inbound interest, and use findings to plan future content.
  • Update published content as the product, toolchain, and positioning evolve.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary, generally ranging from $120,000–$180,000, plus a 10% annual bonus and meaningful equity.
  • Comprehensive, company-paid benefits.
  • 401(k) match.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Flexibility.
