About The Position

The Tech 1 ensures Facility Services are provided for safe, efficient, and functional operations at all Wilmington Health sites. The role performs light building maintenance, preventive maintenance, grounds upkeep, work orders, and related tasks. It also supports other facility staff and may assist with courier, housekeeping, or other duties when needed. The position requires maintaining effective, professional communication with health care team members, patients, and vendors, and responding to assigned on-call notifications and emergencies.

Requirements

• Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
• Good driving record.
• Good communication skills.
• Follow procedures for emergency shutdown of mechanical systems.
• Safely use extension ladders and step ladders.
• Operate power tools.
• Lift 50 pounds waist high.
• Lift 20 pounds overhead.

Responsibilities

• Perform light maintenance on company buildings, including repairing doors, patching drywall, unclogging plumbing, and replacing light bulbs.
• Assist Facility Services Tech II or III as assigned.
• Report maintenance issues to Facility Services Tech III or the Department Supervisor.
• Perform assigned preventive maintenance on facilities.
• Maintain building grounds by removing rubbish and debris.
• Complete work orders and other assigned tasks.
• Maintain assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment.
• Respond to on-call notifications and emergencies when assigned.
• Relocate furniture and equipment as required.
• Communicate and interact appropriately, effectively, and professionally with health care team members, patients, and vendors.
• Perform other tasks necessary for the safety and welfare of patients, staff, and visitors.
• Assist with courier duties, housekeeping duties, or other duties when needed.
