About The Position

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is hiring friendly, outgoing Team Members to provide customers with fast, friendly, and efficient service and a quality, consistent product in a clean and inviting environment. Team Members work in a fast-paced, energetic setting and may serve customers, prepare food, maintain cleanliness, and support multiple shop stations. The advertised pay is $15.25–$15.75 plus digital tips; Potbelly does not guarantee tip earnings. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment. Applications must be submitted by 11/27/2026, though the posting may close earlier if a suitable candidate is selected.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Have a friendly, customer-first mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
• Be able to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
• Be a team player.
• Be able to stand or walk for a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
• Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• For Illinois employees, obtain food safety certification within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work at multiple stations, including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front, as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Follow health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
• Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
• Prepare quality finished products, including sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, and ice cream, efficiently.
• Use the automatic slicer to prepare food items if 18 or older.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate the cash register and follow cash-handling procedures, including handling and balancing cash.
• Handle customer complaints and issues effectively.
• Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
