About The Position

Potbelly is seeking friendly, outgoing Team Members to help customers enjoy lunch in a fast-paced, welcoming sandwich shop. Team Members are primary customer contacts and are responsible for providing fast, friendly, and efficient service; delivering quality, consistent products; and maintaining a clean, inviting environment. The role involves working across multiple stations and supporting food preparation, customer service, cash handling, and cleaning. Pay is $12.75–$13.25 plus digital tips; Potbelly does not guarantee tip earnings.

Requirements

Be at least 16 years of age.
Have a friendly, customer-first mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Be comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
Be able to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
Be a team player.
Be able to stand or walk for a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

Work multiple stations, including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front, as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
Comply with food health, cleanliness, and safety standards.
Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
Efficiently prepare quality sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, and other finished products.
Use the automatic slicer to prepare food items if 18 or older.
Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and utensils, and take out trash.
Operate the cash register, handle and balance cash, and follow cash-handling procedures.
Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
Perform other duties as assigned.
