About The Position

Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor and Operations Manager, the Team Lead is responsible for directing and coordinating daily production operations to ensure delivery of quality products which meet and exceeds customer expectations. This position is responsible for assisting in leadership of the shift/ area, providing guidance to the team to ensure continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, and coordinating efforts amongst other shifts. In addition, the Team Lead is responsible to support two-way communication through department meetings and various teamwork processes, as well as provide feedback to employees and provide input into employee’s performance appraisals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others through example, understanding, and persuasion.
  • Requires experience with or knowledge of Lean Manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated manufacturing leadership and/or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend (in English) simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Documents may include: Material Safety Data Sheets, work orders, work instructions, manuals, policies and procedures, etc.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a positive customer service attitude.
  • Able to multi task.
  • Required working knowledge of Microsoft windows programs (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production related problems.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems in a practical manner.
  • Supervises Hourly Production associates.
  • Manage labor in area to achieve maximum labor efficiency targets (area KPI reference).
  • Manage area performance to achieve maximum foam yield targets (area KPI reference).
  • Develop and maintain a formal staffing and training plan for area of responsibility.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects in area of responsibility.
  • Strive to achieve zero safety incidents and accidents; lead and publish formal RCA’s when incidents occur.
  • Achieve > 98% material inventory accuracy for area(s) of responsibility.

  • Enforce discipline in plant policies, guidelines, and systems.
  • Maintain proper safety conditions, comply with all standard equipment safety practices, and protect company assets.
  • Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area.
  • Ensure manufacturing job operations maintain or improve product quality. Stop and correct job operation if product quality is affected negatively.
  • Resolve confrontation/ conflicts as they occur while keeping management and HR informed at all times.
  • Communicate raw material issues and other inventory level needs.
  • Lead team meetings, pre-shift meetings, safety talks, and productivity/ yield meetings.
  • Help manage Safe Work, Hot Work, Confined Space, and Line Breaking Permits.
  • Back-up to hourly personnel as well fill in for other Leads or Supervisors when absences occur.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the processing of sample requests with Production, Quality, Scheduling, and Customer Service.
  • Review and submission of punch detail, overtime approvals, payroll adjustments and any other matters affecting the employee’s pay.
  • Direct the set-up, operation, and control any equipment in assigned department.
  • Ensure all employees in your assigned area are meeting all safety participation and engagement requirements.
  • Distribute production orders to operators in a timely manner.
  • Analyze and communicate with Pourline all cutting line data communicating unusual measurements or trends.
  • Ensure adherence to all plant QCP’s, SOP’s, and SWP’s.
  • Participate and be a leader in safety activities; must be first-aid trained.
  • Lead and support 5S and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain and ensure all required training is done for all assigned employees, including contract employees.
  • Must be flexible to work hours and/or assignments across various operating shifts to support the overall needs of the business.
