About The Position

Caterpillar is seeking a Team Lead for its Product Support and Logistics Division in Arvin, California. The role assists the Section Manager by leading team members, coordinating and delegating workflow, and overseeing day-to-day operations. It promotes cooperative team relationships, establishes and modifies priorities, gathers metrics, generates reports, and oversees work across multiple job classifications. The position also occasionally performs warehousing functions at a Caterpillar warehouse or distribution facility. This role works onsite in the Arvin office five days a week on the second shift, from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. It requires occasional use of heavy equipment and material-handling tasks, independent work with minimal supervision, and overtime when required. No relocation assistance or travel is offered.

Requirements

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in mathematical and analytical skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
Good attendance record.
Ability to maintain accurate and complete records.

Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing or logistics operation.
Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with logistics and external carriers to arrange expedited shipments.
Interface with customers and communicate the voice of the customer to the logistics team to improve processes.
Lead multifunctional team meetings to track performance and drive results.
Oversee zone management by targeting aged inventory, leading reconciliation, and investigating root causes.
Lead problem-solving events to drive continuous improvement.
Track quality metrics and meet Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost goals.
Lead investigations into customer-reported defects, including those reported by internal logistics customers.
Occasionally operate heavy equipment, reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, and overhead cranes.
Occasionally perform material handling and warehousing functions as required.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Work overtime when required.
Lead team meetings to guide daily priorities and change management.
Demonstrate safety excellence and enforce safety policies and procedures.
Continuously manage the training matrix to ensure team flexibility.
