About The Position

The Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID) is seeking eligible candidates to serve as Teaching Assistants for Fall 2026. Teaching Assistants will be required to perform their duties on campus in person. The positions may involve fractional teaching assistantships (<180 hours). McGill University is an English-language university requiring English communication skills, and is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate student enrolled at McGill University in the Fall 2026 term
  • All fields considered
  • Good academic standing
  • Effective communication skills
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located
  • English communication both verbally and in writing

Nice To Haves

  • Students with an undergraduate B.A., IDS Honors/Joint Honors encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrable knowledge of world development preferred
  • Sensitivity to issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion strongly encouraged
  • Students enrolled in the Development Studies graduate option strongly encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Instruction in conference sections
  • Availability for student consultation/office hours
  • Attendance in class lectures (when required by instructor)
  • Grading of papers, exams, and other course components
  • Consultation with course instructor
  • Assistance in the preparation of course materials

Benefits

  • Hourly Salary: $38.46
