About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator for CHYS 2P52 Fall D2 - RESEARCH METHODS IN CHILD & YOUTH STUDIES II. The instructor for this course is Erin Panda. Compensation for these positions is based on the employee's qualifications, with different rates for those holding a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree versus those who do not. Additional duties required will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. Marker-Grader responsibilities include marking assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams, and providing written feedback to students. The Teaching Assistant must be available to meet with the Instructor as necessary between 9 AM and 5 PM.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 2P52 or equivalent, and obtained 80% or higher.
  • Previous successful experience as a Teaching assistant for CHYS 2P52 will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students.
  • Provide, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency.
  • For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00).
  • For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description.
  • Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.
