About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant for ESL 130, Section F200, during the Fall 2026 semester. The course focuses on integrated four-skills learning (listening, reading, speaking, and writing), including grammar review, vocabulary development, study skills, IT resources, learning strategies, and intercultural competence. The approach is student-centered, interactive, and task-based, with an emphasis on formative evaluation. The work involves assisting in the preparation and delivery of lessons, attending group meetings, and reporting on class activities. This course is offered exclusively on the University of Ottawa campus and requires in-person instruction.

Requirements

• Capacity to facilitate group work through a student-centered, task-based learning approach.
• Capacity to explain the English verb system, sentence structure, and academic vocabulary to second language learners.
• Excellent command of the English language.
• Interview may be required.

• Previous ESL training and classroom experience is an asset.
• Classroom multimedia experience is an asset.
