About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant for the course GEOG 1P11 - Our Environment: Landscapes, Soils, and Water for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. Compensation for Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions is based on the employee's qualifications. Undergraduate rate is $23.30 per hour (effective September 1, 2026) for those without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree. Graduate rate is $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026) for those with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation, student consultation, marking, proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree in Physical Geography or equivalent.
  • If vacancies remain, students enrolled in an Honours Program (completed 13 or more credits) in Physical Geography or equivalent will be considered.
  • Completion of 4 full credits in Physical Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Physical Geography courses completed is required (or equivalent).
  • Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines.
