About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant (RECL 2P15) for the Winter D3-1 term at Brock University. The position is within the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. Teaching Assistant positions are paid according to the employee's qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour. Employees with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate of $36.67 per hour. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • Achieved a minimum of 80% in the course
  • At least third- or fourth-year students currently enrolled in Recreation and Leisure Studies, or who have completed an RECL degree or equivalent
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students
  • Punctual in attending classes
  • Able to meet appropriate deadlines
