About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the POLI 3P91: Quantitative Political Analysis course for the Winter term. This position involves facilitating small group computer labs, grading assignments and exams, providing feedback to students, and maintaining student performance records. The nominal workload for this position is 60 hours. Duties are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation, consultation, marking, proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree in Political Science.
  • Must have successfully completed POLI 3P91 (or equivalent).
  • Must have the ability to clearly articulate basic statistical equations and theoretical concepts for political analysis.
  • Must have good organizational skills and be able to observe timelines requested by the Instructor.
  • Must have prior documented experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar leadership capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating small group computer labs where students learn to organize and analyze statistical data.
  • Grading of assignments and exams.
  • Providing thoughtful and constructive feedback with the aim of enriching students' academic experiences in the discipline.
