About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for CRIM 2P61 - Foundations of Criminology for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The role involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom duties such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or Honours Degree in Sociology or equivalent.
  • Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated teaching competence (e.g., summary of previous course evaluations, faculty evaluations).
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines, recognizing that there are periods of intensive work associated with the position.
  • Applicants must make a case that their qualifications are equivalent to those required above.
  • For courses taken elsewhere, provide a transcript (a copy of your course and grade summary from your student selfserve at that institution is sufficient); highlight the course and provide the course description.
  • For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00).

Nice To Haves

  • Students enrolled in an Honours Program (completed 15 or more credits) in Sociology or equivalent (with an 80% average or higher) will be considered if vacancies remain.
