About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course CRIM 4P81 - Selected Issues in Criminology. The course delivery is in person on Wednesdays from 19:00 to 22:00. The compensation for the role is $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) effective September 1, 2026, and $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally) effective September 1, 2026. Instructors employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • PhD in Sociology, Criminology or closely related discipline with demonstrated university training in Critical Criminology.
  • Specialization in sociological approaches to selected contemporary issues in Critical Criminology.
  • Demonstrated successful university teaching experience in Critical Criminology courses.
  • Demonstrated research in Critical Criminology with a sociological approach.
  • Demonstrated success teaching university seminar courses.
  • Cover letter explaining how each qualification is met.
  • Current resume.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
