About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the CRIM 4P01 - Service Learning in Community Justice course for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group). Compensation will be based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking, grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

Masters Degree or Honours Degree in Sociology or equivalent
If vacancies remain, students enrolled in an Honours Program (completed 15 or more credits) in Sociology or equivalent (with an 80% average or higher) will be considered.
Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent)
Demonstrated teaching competence. (eg. summary of previous course evaluations, faculty evaluations)
Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines, recognizing that there are periods of intensive work associated with the position.

It is the applicant's responsibility to demonstrate how his/her degree and training are equivalent.
Likewise, it is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency.
For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00).
For courses taken elsewhere, provide a transcript (a copy of your course and grade summary from your student selfservice at that institution is sufficient); highlight the course and provide the course description.
Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.
Equivalency will be determined by the course instructor, in consultation with the selection committee.
Applicants must make a case that their qualifications are equivalent to those required above.
