About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for HIST 2P56 (Gender in Modern European History) for the Winter term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. Compensation will be based on the employee's qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking, grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • A four-year Honours B.A., or equivalent, in History with a minimum 75% average in History courses
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 19th- and 20th- Century History
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Women's History and/or Women's and Gender Studies
  • Evidence of successful previous university-level teaching assistant experience or equivalent
  • Demonstrated organizational and effective communication skills
  • Ability to explain subject material to students
  • Punctual in attending classes
  • Meet appropriate deadlines
