About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant for the course Introduction to Quantitative Statistics (FPAC 3P15) for the Fall D2 term. Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Requirements

  • Must have completed FPAC 3P15 with a grade of 80%+ within the previous five years; OR equivalent completion of undergraduate quantitative statistics courses.
  • Previous successful experience as a Teaching Assistant for FPAC 3P15 will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students.
  • Provide, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker- Grader.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency.
  • For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00).
  • For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description.
  • Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.
