About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant for the Human Biochemical Genetics course (HGEN 575) at McGill University. The role involves supporting the course through MyCourses, including managing student communications, ensuring lectures are uploaded, and organizing journal article reviews and group presentations. The Teaching Assistant will also assist with exam preparation, invigilation, and grade collation.

Requirements

  • Responsible graduate student with interest in human genetic diseases and the underlying molecular biology.
  • Organized individual able to coordinate with various instructors and students.
  • Must be a registered McGill student.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
  • Must have English communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage student communications via MyCourses.
  • Ensure lectures are loaded ahead of class.
  • Organize journal article reviews, including posting articles and facilitating student group selections.
  • Organize group presentations, including facilitating student group selections.
  • Assemble exam questions from instructors.
  • Invigilate for the midterm and final exams.
  • Collate exam grades after instructors have submitted them.
