About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant for the Human Genetics course (HGEN 692) at McGill University. The role involves supporting the course coordinator by monitoring attendance, moderating question periods, managing time during classes, scheduling presentations, assigning reading documents, marking exams, assisting students with presentation preparation, and preparing feedback on presentations. The position is open to registered McGill graduate students (Master's or Doctoral level) who are authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in Quebec.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in HGEN692, and/or a broad background in human genetics and biomedical research.
  • A Teaching Assistant is a Graduate Student at the Master’s or Doctoral level, at McGill University, employed to assist a course coordinator.
  • Only registered McGill students can be hired as TAs.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.
  • Requires English communication both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring attendance and moderating question periods during classes.
  • Manage time during courses.
  • Schedule presentation dates and assign lecture reading documents.
  • Collate and mark mid-term and final exams.
  • Assist students with presentation preparation.
  • Collate presentation critiques and prepare feedback.

Benefits
