Teaching Assistant PHIL 2P25 Winter D3-1
About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant position in PHIL 2P25 (Introduction to Logic) for the Winter D3-1 term. Compensation for Teaching Assistant positions is based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour, effective September 1, 2026. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.
Requirements
- Achieved a minimum of 80% in the course or course equivalent
- Currently enrolled in a degree program for or already have completed an MA in Philosophy
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to explain subject material to students
- Proven track record of working effectively with others
- Punctual in attending classes
- Able to meet appropriate deadlines
Nice To Haves
- Experience with internet platforms for teaching is an asset (e.g., Teams, Brightspace, LifeSize, and/or MindTap)
