About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant in DART 2Q92 D3 (Winter) at Brock University. There are two positions available for Seminars 2 and 3, focusing on 'Performance as a Cultural Practice,' which involves an integrated study of theatre, performance, theory, and dramatic literature within the context of cultural developments. The role includes lecture and seminar components, with 3 hours per week (60 hours total for each position). The lectures are scheduled for Wednesdays from 14:00 to 16:00, and Seminars 2 and 3 are on Wednesdays from 16:00 to 17:00.

Requirements

  • MA or MFA in theatre and performance or a relevant, related discipline.
  • Formal training in post-secondary teaching or successful post-secondary teaching experience. Evidence of teaching success may consist of previous course evaluations, teaching letters of recommendation, examples of learning activities designed, or other objective evidence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Evidence to be provided in the cover letter.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Evidence to be provided in the cover letter.
  • Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related approaches to theatre making, theatre pedagogy, and/or theatrical practices. Evidence may include relevant course-work, scholarly presentations or publications, development of professional theatre practices, academic or professional leadership, consulting work, or professional development or training.   • Demonstrated ability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system, the BrockDB online portal, the OASIS system for managing student accommodations, or equivalent systems in other institutions.
