About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill two existing Teaching Assistant vacancies for DART 3Q91 D3 (Winter) in Seminars 2 and 3. This course, Contemporary Theatre and Performance, involves an integrated study of contemporary theatre and performance, theory, and dramatic literature from the late 20th century to the present. It focuses on the context of cultural developments including theories of acting, criticism, and critical theory. The position requires lecture and seminar duties, totaling 3 hours per week, with additional field trips as required (60 hours for each position). The lecture is scheduled for Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Seminars 2 and 3 are on Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

Requirements

  • MA or MFA in theatre and performance or a relevant, related discipline, or currently enrolled in a master’s program relevant to theatre and performance.
  • Formal training in post-secondary teaching or successful post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Evidence to be provided in the cover letter of application.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Evidence to be provided in the cover letter of application.
  • Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related approaches to theatre making, theatre pedagogy, and/or theatrical practices. Evidence may include relevant course-work, scholarly presentations or publications, development of professional theatre practices, academic or professional leadership, consulting work, or professional development or training.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system, the BrockDB online portal, the OASIS system for managing student accommodations, or equivalent systems in other institutions.
