About The Position

This posting is for a Teaching Assistant position for the course HSS3101B: Health Research: Quantitative and Qualitative Approaches during the Fall 2025 semester. The position involves assisting the professor with examinations, grading written assignments, proctoring exams, and potentially holding office hours (in-person and online) to address student inquiries. The instruction mode is in-person, and occasional campus visits are required. Access to a computer, internet, microphone, and webcam is also necessary. The contract includes hours for supervision and correction of the final exam. The number of positions available is 3, with an expected enrollment of 155 students. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. Undergraduate students will be paid at a rate of $31.89/hour, while graduate students will be paid at $50.25/hour (2024-2025 rates). These rates do not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity upon ratification. Requirements

  • Bachelor, MSc or PhD in Health Sciences or equivalent
  • Very good English writing skills to accurately mark essays and long answers on exams
  • Experience with online learning programs and software (as a teaching assistant)
  • Experience with web software (uploading content, programming content)

Responsibilities

  • Help with examinations
  • Assist with at least 2 written assignments
  • Proctoring of exams
  • Hold office hours in person and online to assist professor with addressing student inquiries and concerns outside of class times
  • Supervision and correction of the final exam
