About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant for the Organic Chemistry II course (CHM2520 Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester. The role involves preparing and delivering DGDs (Demonstration Groups), supervising quizzes, mid-terms, and a final exam. The expected enrollment for the course is 350 students. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. Undergraduate students will be paid at a lower rate, while graduate students will receive a higher rate. These rates do not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification. All University of Ottawa employees must complete mandatory legislated training. The hiring process will follow the CUPE 2626 collective agreement. Requirements

Must have successfully completed one year of general chemistry.
Must have successfully completed one year of organic chemistry.
Must have successfully completed workshops on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
All individuals who are not graduate students in chemistry must pass a qualifying test (unless already completed in the previous semester).
