About The Position

The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is seeking qualified teachers for various subject areas. The SRCE is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established to support student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. With approximately 1,166 employees, the SRCE operates 20 schools and pre-primary programs, serving about 5,948 students. Located in northeastern Nova Scotia, the SRCE's jurisdiction covers Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond counties.

Requirements

• Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia
• Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition
• Excellent classroom and student management skills
• Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning
• Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies
• Mi'kmaw descent
• Classroom experience teaching Social Studies
• Major/Minor in Math
• Application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one must be your most recent supervisor.
• All employees must provide a current (within the last 6 months), and clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver public school programs focusing on supporting student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success.
• Teach SRCE-26-204, RECA, Term Math at Work 11, Mi'kmaw Studies 11, Accounting 11.
• Participate in New Teacher training if hired or recalled into new positions and have not already done so.
