About The Position
This posting is for teachers with recall status and external applicants who are qualified for the position. Teachers with recall status must apply using their Internal Profile to ensure their seniority is recognized. The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established on April 1, 2018. Its mission is to empower children and youth within safe, equitable, and inclusive environments to embrace a changing world as responsible, contributing, and successful lifelong learners. In 2024-2025, the SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students and 375 children in pre-primary programs. The SRCE jurisdiction covers Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond counties. Teachers hired or recalled into new positions will be required to participate in New Teacher training if they have not already done so. All employees must provide a current Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.
Requirements
- Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia.
- Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition.
- Excellent classroom and student management skills.
- Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
- Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
- Bachelor of Science with a Major or Minor in Math.
- Application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one must be your most recent supervisor.
- All employees must provide a current (within the last 6 months), and clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.
