About The Position
This is a 50% Term position for an English Language Arts Teacher for grades 7 & 8 at the Chedabucto Education Centre in Guysborough. The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established to deliver the public school program with a focus on student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. The SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students and serves about 375 children in pre-primary programs across 14 locations. The jurisdiction covers the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond in northeastern Nova Scotia.
Requirements
- Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia.
- Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in English Language Arts at the appropriate level.
- Excellent classroom and student management skills.
- Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
- Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
- Knowledge of inter-disciplinary planning.
- Major or Minor in English.
- Provide at least three (3) work-related references, one of which must be your most recent supervisor.
- Provide a current (within the last 6 months), and clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.
Responsibilities
- Teach English Language Arts to grades 7 & 8.
- Participate in New Teacher training if not already completed.
- Apply technologies to enhance instruction and learning.
- Implement inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
- Engage in inter-disciplinary planning.
