About The Position

This posting is for teachers with recall status and external applicants who are qualified for the position. Teachers with recall status must apply using their Internal Profile to ensure their seniority is recognized. The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established on April 1, 2018, to support student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. The SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students and 375 children in pre-primary programs across 14 locations. Located in northeastern Nova Scotia, its jurisdiction covers Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond counties. Teachers hired or recalled into new positions will be required to participate in New Teacher training if they have not already done so. All employees must provide a current Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry check.

Requirements

  • Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia.
  • Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area at the appropriate level.
  • Excellent classroom and student management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
  • Knowledge of inter-disciplinary planning.
  • Application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one of which must be your most recent supervisor.
  • Provide a current (within the last 6 months), and clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.
