About The Position
The Academic Instructor teaches in a regular classroom setting, presenting instruction in a designated subject area. The role promotes a positive classroom atmosphere that supports student motivation and learning, maintains classroom discipline, and builds strong student-instructor rapport. The instructor uses available curriculum resources and maintains student personnel folders, recording and forwarding daily attendance to Student Records. The position is at Old Dominion Job Corps in Monroe, Virginia. Job Corps is a nationwide residential career training program that helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete high school, prepare for careers, and obtain employment.
Requirements
- Be certified to teach in Virginia or able to obtain certification through reciprocity.
- Pass a drug screen in compliance with the Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
- Successfully complete a nationwide criminal background check; employment is contingent on successful completion.
