About The Position

The Teacher (Academic Instructor) provides instruction in a regular classroom setting in a designated subject area. The instructor is expected to foster a positive classroom atmosphere, motivate students, maintain discipline to support learning, and build strong student-instructor rapport. The role uses available curriculum resources and maintains student personnel folders, including recording and forwarding daily attendance to Student Records.

The position is with Old Dominion Job Corps, a residential career training program serving eligible young people ages 16 through 24. The program helps participants complete high school, prepare for careers, and obtain employment. The position offers an annual salary of $50,000 and a $5,000 sign-on bonus for Virginia-certified teachers, subject to payment terms. Employment is contingent on successfully completing a nationwide criminal background check, and candidates must pass a drug screen in accordance with the employer's substance abuse and drug-free workplace policy.

Requirements

• Be certified to teach in Virginia or be able to obtain certification through reciprocity.
• Pass a drug screen in compliance with the Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Successfully complete a nationwide criminal background check; employment is contingent on passing the check.
