About The Position

Apple Montessori Schools is seeking a Teacher Toddler to guide children's development and support their physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs. The teacher works as part of a team using the school's modern Montessori approach and enrichment beyond the traditional educational experience. The role includes planning instruction and activities, assessing and documenting children's progress, supervising a teacher assistant, and communicating with parents. The teacher also participates in school events, staff meetings, and curriculum meetings. The position is located in Mahwah, New Jersey, and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; Elementary Education preferred.
Ability to communicate with parents effectively and professionally.
Experience with lesson planning and development.
Ability to multitask and function in an ever-changing environment.

Nice To Haves

Montessori experience preferred.
NAMC preferred, or willingness to obtain it within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

Formalize weekly lesson plans for the upcoming instructional period.
Relate instructional objectives to curriculum standards and make effective decisions about instructional goals.
Assess student performance using formal and informal assessments and observations.
Plan and implement activities that meet children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs.
Use varied instructional materials and methods, including supplemental materials, teacher-constructed resources, bulletin boards, audio-visual aids, hands-on activities, discovery-based learning, and activity-based learning.
Maintain accurate and timely educational assessments and progress notes for assigned students.
Train and supervise a teacher assistant in the classroom.
Meet with parents throughout the year to discuss children's progress.
Attend Open House, Back to School Night, Teacher In-Service days, weekly staff meetings, and weekly teacher curriculum meetings.
