About The Position

The Teacher's Aide assists with developing and leading classroom activities and developmentally appropriate programs in a child care center. The role works collaboratively with teachers to support children's learning and development, implement classroom schedules and curriculum, and maintain a safe classroom that meets licensing and accreditation requirements. The position requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Six months of experience working or volunteering with children is required. A full Level 2 Background Screening is required at hire and every five years thereafter.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of experience working or volunteering with children.
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association or the Red Cross.
• DCF 45-hour Certification from the Florida Department of Children and Families.
• Full Level 2 Background Screening at hire and every five years thereafter.
• Critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children to ensure their safety.
• Ensure the classroom meets local licensing standards.
• Work collaboratively with the teacher to assess learning and development needs and develop age-appropriate learning solutions.
• Attend periodic staff meetings.
• Assist the teacher with implementing the teaching schedule and curriculum.
• Follow accreditation and licensing policies and practices.
• Assist teachers with course progress report procedures.
• Apply knowledge of learning principles to engage children in appropriate activities.
