About The Position

Lifesteps is hiring a full-time Child Care Staff member in Beaver, Pennsylvania. Lifesteps is a local human-services organization that has served Western Pennsylvania for over 100 years, helping individuals and families with life’s changing needs. Its programs support children of all abilities with early care and education.

The Teacher Aide position, also known as Child Care Assistant or Assistant Group Supervisor, provides care and supervision for children ages 3 to 5. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., during daylight hours. Lifesteps describes its childcare and preschool services as exceptional and invites applicants to join its team to make a difference in children’s lives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience caring for children; paid or unpaid experience may qualify, but it must involve caring for other people’s children.
• Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to provide acceptable Pennsylvania Criminal, Pennsylvania Child Abuse, and FBI Department of Human Services clearances.
• Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to complete basic computer tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate information to a diverse audience.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, Psychology, Criminology, Speech Pathology, Music Therapy, Women’s Studies, or a related major; or a CDA.
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related Human Services field.

Responsibilities

• Care for and supervise children ages 3 to 5.
• Assist with lesson planning and create activities.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor play.
• Inform parents about their child’s day.
• Clean and organize the room, toys, and equipment.
• Participate in quality initiatives, such as Keystone STARS, to enhance programming.
