About The Position

Lifesteps is hiring a full-time Child Care Aide in Beaver, Pennsylvania. Lifesteps is a local human services organization serving Western Pennsylvania and providing programs and services to support children of all abilities with early care and education.

The role, also known as Teacher Aide, Child Care Assistant, or Assistant Group Supervisor, involves caring for and supervising children ages 3 to 5. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and two years of experience caring for other people's children; experience may be paid or unpaid.
• Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to provide acceptable Pennsylvania Criminal, Pennsylvania Child Abuse, and FBI Department of Human Services clearances.
• Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to complete basic computer tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate information to a diverse audience.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, Psychology, Criminology, Speech Pathology, Music Therapy, Women's Studies, or a related major; or a CDA.
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related human services field.

Responsibilities

• Care for and supervise children ages 3 to 5.
• Assist with lesson planning and create fun activities.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor playtime.
• Inform parents about their child's day.
• Clean and organize the room, toys, and equipment.
• Participate in quality initiatives, such as Keystone STARS, to enhance programming.
