About The Position

A full-time Teacher’s Aide position with a non-profit special education organization supporting children and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role helps students develop life skills, independence, and personal growth in an inclusive classroom environment. Employment is for a 10-month school year in Henrietta, New York, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid New York State driver’s license with at least three years of driving history.
Experience working with children with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to assist students with personal care and daily living activities.
Patience, compassion, and comfort supporting individuals with different abilities and needs.

Potential summer employment through a six-week Extended School Year (ESY) program.

Responsibilities

Assist students with daily classroom activities and individualized learning objectives.
Support lead teachers with classroom activities and provide individual or small-group assistance.
Use positive behavior strategies and individualized interventions to support student behavior and classroom management.
Participate in physical education and aquatic programs alongside students.
Help students with personal hygiene and daily living needs while maintaining their dignity and comfort.
Assist students with safely boarding and exiting school buses.
Help with classroom organization, recordkeeping, clerical tasks, and general housekeeping as needed.
