About The Position

TheraPeds Partners is hiring a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) for a full-time, school-based opportunity in Merrillville, Indiana. This position serves students across PreK–12, as well as transition-age students (up to age 13) during the 2026–2027 school year. The role involves empowering students who are deaf or hard of hearing to reach their full academic potential while collaborating with a supportive multidisciplinary team. This is an on-site, in-person position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
• Valid Indiana certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain certification
• 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Knowledge of IEP development and special education compliance
• Organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in use of technology
• Fingerprint background clearance
• Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized instruction that addresses each student's communication, academic, and functional needs.
• Conduct educational assessments and use evaluation results to guide instructional planning and service recommendations.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) while serving as the case manager for assigned students.
• Track student progress and modify instructional approaches based on data and ongoing performance.
• Partner with parents, teachers, therapists, and administrators to provide coordinated support across educational settings.
• Maintain timely documentation, student records, and compliance with special education requirements.
• Consult with classroom staff regarding accommodations, instructional strategies, and supports that promote student success.
