About The Position

The Arc Erie County New York is seeking a Teacher Assistant for its School Age Education Program in Cheektowaga, NY. Teacher Assistants support students with developmental disabilities in their academic, social, and emotional growth within a supportive school environment. The role involves working with students individually and in small groups to help create a positive, engaging, safe, and inclusive classroom experience.

The position offers full-time or part-time schedules, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with no nights, weekends, or holidays. Starting pay is $19.00 per hour. Paid training and opportunities for advancement within the agency are available. Medical, dental, and vision insurance are available to full-time employees.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist students with classroom activities and educational goals outlined in their IEPs.
• Support teachers during lessons, activities, and daily routines.
• Help students build social, behavioral, and communication skills.
• Assist with student supervision throughout the school day.
• Support documentation of student progress.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting when needed.
• Help create a safe, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment.
