About The Position
The Teacher Assistant / Floater assists in all aspects of classroom operation, either in place of or in addition to regular teaching staff, serving as a floating substitute and coordinating the use of substitute teaching staff for classrooms. The role supports children's safety, health, communication, creativity, independence, and positive relationships with others.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities
- Assist in classrooms in addition to regular teaching staff as needed.
- Provide a safe environment to prevent and reduce injuries.
- Promote good health and nutrition and help provide an environment that contributes to the prevention of illness.
- Provide opportunities for children to understand, acquire, and use verbal and non-verbal means of communicating thoughts and feelings.
- Provide experiences that stimulate children to explore and express their creative abilities.
- Help each child know, accept, and take pride in themselves and develop a sense of independence.
- Help children learn to get along with others and encourage empathy and mutual respect among children and adults.
- Provide an environment in which children can learn and practice behaviors that are appropriate and acceptable individually and in a group.
- Coordinate the use of substitute teaching staff for classrooms.
