The Maryland School for the Deaf has an anticipated opening for a Teacher Aide in its Family Education and Early Childhood Department at the Frederick Campus for the 2026–2027 school year, with the opening anticipated for Fall 2026. The school provides a bilingual, language-rich environment for deaf and hard of hearing students from birth through age 21, supporting access to American Sign Language and English. The Teacher Aide provides direct support to students and teachers across academic, social, and physical areas. Under teacher direction, the aide works with individual students or small groups on planned learning tasks, monitors behavior, helps students participate in school routines, collects student data, and accompanies students around campus. In early childhood education, the aide may assist with students’ physical and personal care needs. The role also includes preparing instructional materials and visual aids, organizing classroom space and supplies, providing clerical assistance, attending IEP and team meetings, and participating in professional development. The aide may cover classroom responsibilities when a teacher is temporarily unavailable, as directed by the Department Principal, and performs other assigned duties.
