About The Position

The Tailor/Fitter provides customers with high-quality service through skilled garment fitting and alterations. The role measures customers, fits garments, and marks areas requiring alteration; completes fittings and sewing alterations on time in accordance with Nordstrom guidelines and service standards; and uses store technology to manage customer alteration needs. The Tailor works collaboratively with the Alterations & Store Team, meets productivity goals while following established procedures, and provides professional, friendly guidance to customers and employees about fit, style, construction, and trends. The position is seasonal and requires flexibility in scheduling based on business needs. The listed hourly pay range is $23.75–$41.25, with offers dependent on location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position may be eligible for performance-based incentives or bonuses.

Requirements

• Previous fitting, tailoring, and sewing experience; 2–3 years is preferred.
• Clear, professional communication with coworkers and customers.
• Ability to stay organized and prioritize multiple tasks and customer requests in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and safely operate sewing and pressing machinery and standard alterations equipment.
• Ability to embrace a flexible working schedule based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 2–3 years of fitting, tailoring, and sewing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Measure customers, fit garments on customers, and mark areas requiring alterations.
• Complete customer fittings on time and perform sewing alterations according to Nordstrom guidelines and service standards.

• Use store technology to manage and organize customer alteration needs.
• Deliver customer expectations through teamwork and collaboration within the Alterations & Store Team.

• Safely operate sewing and pressing machinery and standard alterations equipment.
