About The Position
The Tailor/Fitter provides customers with high-quality service through skilled garment fitting and alterations. The role involves measuring customers, fitting garments, identifying and marking required alterations, and completing fittings and sewing work on time in accordance with Nordstrom guidelines and service standards. The Tailor uses store technology to manage customer alteration needs, meets productivity goals, and collaborates with the Alterations and Store teams. The position also includes educating customers and employees about fit, style, garment construction, and trends in a professional, friendly manner. A flexible schedule based on business needs is required. The pay range is $23.75–$41.25 per hour. Pay offers depend on location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position may be eligible for performance-based incentives or bonuses. Requirements
- Previous fitting, tailoring, and sewing experience; 2–3 years preferred.
- Clear, professional communication with coworkers and customers.
- Ability to stay organized and prioritize multiple tasks and customer requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn and safely operate sewing and pressing machinery and standard alterations equipment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
Nice To Haves
- Previous fitting, tailoring, and sewing experience, with 2–3 years preferred.
Responsibilities
- Measure customers, fit garments, and mark areas requiring alterations.
- Complete customer fittings on time and perform sewing alterations according to Nordstrom guidelines and service standards.
- Meet department and individual productivity goals while following proper processes and procedures.
- Use store technology to manage and organize customer alteration needs.
- Work collaboratively with the Alterations and Store teams to meet customer expectations.
