System Engineer Skill Level 6

Wyetech•Fort Meade, MD

About The Position

Wyetech is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the design, documentation, integration, implementation, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical IT systems and SIGINT platforms. The role develops and maintains technical documentation throughout the systems engineering lifecycle, including materials for new deployments and upgrades to existing infrastructure at FS sites. Documentation includes preliminary design reviews, engineering drawings, mission transition plans, implementation materials, technical specifications, and sustainment procedures. The engineer analyzes enterprise IT and SIGINT architectures and supports integration of communications technologies, network infrastructure, virtualization platforms, physical and virtual infrastructure, and data-processing systems. The position includes hands-on installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and sustainment work across Linux and Windows environments, including Cisco networking equipment. The engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and operational stakeholders to ensure systems meet mission requirements and are properly designed, integrated, tested, deployed, and maintained. The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph and U.S. citizenship, and may involve supporting deployment and upgrade activities at designated FS sites.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated professional experience in Systems Engineering, systems integration, infrastructure engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of communications technologies, virtualization, systems architecture, and infrastructure supporting enterprise IT systems and SIGINT platforms.
  • Experience documenting systems design, implementation, deployment, maintenance, and modernization.
  • Experience developing engineering documentation for new deployments and upgrades at operational sites.
  • Experience preparing preliminary design reviews, mission transition plans, implementation plans, technical specifications, and systems engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency designing, interpreting, modifying, and maintaining engineering drawings using Microsoft Visio, Adobe, or comparable tools.
  • Experience with systems and network administration across Linux and Windows environments.
  • Experience integrating and deploying network and data-processing systems, including hardware and software configuration, installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, networking protocols, and security controls.
  • Hands-on experience with rack-and-stack activities, equipment cabling, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience analyzing systems architecture, network connectivity, infrastructure dependencies, and integration requirements.
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies and their use in complex IT environments.
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and industry best practices.
  • Experience supporting integration of physical and virtual infrastructure within enterprise systems.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office applications, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary technical stakeholders and coordinate complex integration and deployment activities.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph; must maintain applicable clearance and program access requirements throughout employment.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be able to support system deployment, integration, and upgrade activities at designated FS sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for the design, implementation, deployment, operation, and sustainment of IT systems and SIGINT platforms.
  • Document all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements analysis and initial design through operational transition and maintenance.
  • Prepare preliminary design reviews, technical specifications, system architecture descriptions, engineering design packages, mission transition plans, and implementation documentation.
  • Create, interpret, modify, and maintain system and network engineering drawings, topology diagrams, architecture drawings, infrastructure layouts, and hardware integration documentation.
  • Document system configurations, hardware and software dependencies, communications interfaces, and operational requirements; maintain version-controlled documentation as systems change.
  • Analyze system architectures, communications technologies, network infrastructure, virtualization platforms, dependencies, and integration requirements.
  • Support technical solutions integrating physical hardware, virtual infrastructure, network components, and data-processing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and system administrators to develop and validate architectures and integrate Linux and Windows systems into enterprise environments.
  • Evaluate scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability, and recommend infrastructure improvements, upgrades, and technical enhancements.
  • Integrate, configure, deploy, test, and sustain network and data-processing systems and their hardware and software components.
  • Support Cisco network infrastructure, including routers, switches, connectivity, and applicable security protocols.
  • Perform equipment installation activities, including rack-and-stack operations, cabling, connectivity validation, and hardware integration.
  • Troubleshoot issues involving network connectivity, hardware configurations, operating systems, virtualization, and data-processing components; coordinate resolutions with technical teams.
  • Maintain records of configurations, installation activities, test results, and technical changes.
  • Plan and support new deployments and upgrades at FS sites, including installation procedures, checklists, readiness reviews, and coordination with engineering teams, operational stakeholders, and site personnel.
  • Support system acceptance, operational transition, and initial sustainment; document implementation activities, findings, configuration changes, and outstanding issues.
  • Support Linux and Windows administration, configuration, software installation, maintenance, virtualization, and infrastructure sustainment in coordination with system administrators.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical planning, deployment coordination, and operational transition activities; communicate requirements, decisions, progress, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Use Jira to track tasks, issues, deployment activities, and milestones, and use Confluence to develop and maintain engineering documentation and knowledge resources.
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint to prepare technical reports, documentation, presentations, and coordination materials.
  • Coordinate with Government representatives, technical leads, operational personnel, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to support mission objectives.
  • Perform additional Systems Engineering responsibilities as required to support program requirements.
