The role requires hands-on experience with Python, Kotlin and/or Java, Terraform, Elasticsearch and/or OpenSearch, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain complex systems for enterprise application integration, distributed data processing, and cloud-based operations, and will collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, and other technical stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions that meet operational and functional requirements. The position includes software development and systems integration, AWS cloud engineering and Terraform automation, search and database integration, software testing and performance optimization, technical documentation, and development-process improvement. The engineer may serve as a team lead when appropriate, provide technical guidance, and support software deployment, configuration, operational maintenance, and mission objectives. Candidates must meet the Software Engineer Skill Level 2 labor-category requirements. The stated qualification paths are a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus 14 years of relevant Software Engineering experience, or 18 years of qualifying experience, with four additional years of relevant experience substitutable for the bachelor's degree. The posting also describes a contract-specific cloud and Big Data experience requirement involving three years with distributed scalable NoSQL stores, MapReduce technologies, HDFS, and JSON and/or BSON; it notes this applies to 15% of SWE2 staffing and that applicability to this opening should be confirmed. An active TS/SCI clearance with an in-scope Full Scope Polygraph completed within the past seven years and U.S. citizenship are required. Employees must maintain applicable clearance and program-access requirements throughout employment.
