About The Position

Anduril is hiring a Systems Engineer for its Battlespace Awareness team in Waltham, Massachusetts. The team develops tactical sensing and decision-making software for command-and-control products. These systems operate across varied compute hardware, sensors, effectors, software services, mission sets, configurations, and customer experiences, and must be effective, robust, and safe. The Systems Engineer will help design, develop, integrate, and validate advanced algorithmic capabilities, including tracking, sensor and effector management, battlespace optimization, and threat forecasting. The role spans system design, requirements management, modeling and simulation, and verification and validation. It involves integrating emerging capabilities into products and configurations, decomposing requirements across teams, and defining success amid ambiguity. The engineer will develop test plans, acceptance criteria, analysis tools, and sophisticated modeling and simulation frameworks to evaluate system and algorithm performance using simulations and field data. The role also includes scoping system configurations, scrutinizing system performance, tracing results as systems evolve, and ensuring deployed systems meet customer requirements. The engineer owns systems end to end and works across technical boundaries to achieve mission outcomes.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hardware and software systems engineering experience.
  • A degree in Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated use of model-based systems engineering during a program lifecycle.
  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB and AFSIM.
  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Python for data parsing, modeling and simulation, data analysis, and visualization.
  • Skills in statistics, AI/ML, requirements, testing, and MBSE.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering standards to engineering processes or requirements.
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to developers, system leads, and customers.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and challenging problems.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with processes and constraints for real-time and safety-critical software.
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ or Rust; full-time coding is not required.
  • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Prior involvement in field exercises, test events, or experimentation campaigns.
  • Comfort obtaining data from software platforms using command-line tools.
  • Previous experience in a defense, aerospace, or naval environment.
  • Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, radar, optics, computer vision, wireless communication, software-defined radios, or networking.
  • Proficiency with Python and/or MATLAB for data parsing and data visualization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, integration, and validation of algorithmic capabilities, including tracking, sensor and effector management, battlespace optimization, and threat forecasting.
  • Bridge system design, requirements management, modeling and simulation, and verification and validation activities.
  • Integrate emerging capabilities into new products and system configurations.
  • Lead requirements decomposition across cross-functional teams and define success in ambiguous situations.
  • Develop test plans, acceptance criteria, and analysis tools to evaluate system performance using simulations and collected field data.
  • Use data-driven analysis to verify customer requirements and create artifacts that trace system performance as it evolves.
  • Scope ideal system configurations, scrutinize performance, and ensure deployed systems meet customer requirements.
  • Develop and implement modeling and simulation frameworks to validate algorithm performance, test capabilities across scenarios, and provide insights for continuous improvement.
  • Own systems end to end, identifying and solving problems across system boundaries to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Travel to customer sites, up to 25%.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
